Introducing: Ryan's Field Notes 🪴📝

Hi Reader,

I’m writing to update my inner circle — those of you who have been a client, collaborator, colleague, or supporter as I’ve launched my coaching business over the past year.

You’re my community, and I’m starting a newsletter that I want to share with you:

I’ll use Field Notes to share inspiration that arises through the course of my work. It’s my ambition to share stories that kindle the heart, ideas that spark curiosity, and actionable opportunities to explore growth in your own life. It’s my hope that through my writing, I can share my experience and maintain a strong connection with the people who have supported me along the way.

In the next few editions of my Field Notes, I’ll write on topics like:

  • Building self-awareness and emotional intelligence
  • Practicing mindfulness to manage energy & prevent burnout
  • Exploring life as a highly sensitive person (or “HSP”)
  • Discovering & applying your Zone of Genius at work
  • Growth Mindset, Conscious Leadership, & Positive Intelligence

..and much, much more.

I’ll close with a message of gratitude (and a personal ask.)

In the past year, I’ve had many 1:1 conversations where I’ve shared what I’m building—and the first question I get is, “How can I help?” This is a wonderful question of support and encouragement, which I am thankful for. I didn’t always know how to answer it because I was in the midst of figuring it all out. But I have an answer now.

What I’ve learned is there are 3 types of coaching relationships that have been especially energizing and successful for me:

  1. Organizational Coaching; embedding myself within a company to support ICs & Managers
  2. Co-Founder Coaching; strengthening the foundational relationships behind a startup
  3. Private Coaching; inspiring self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and purpose-led work

So, now I have a clear answer: I’m looking for referrals & opportunities to coach in any of the categories above.

Until the next Field Notes, I’ll leave you with a simple but powerful tool for practicing open communication and building emotional intelligence: The Feelings Wheel. It’s a handy reference tool for getting specific about what types of emotions & feelings you experience. I use it with clients & at home!

Talk soon,

Ryan
